Marshall Motor Group is the 7th largest motor dealer group in the UK (Source: Automotive Management - November 2020). Since 2008, 161 franchise have been added and 42 non-core or loss making operations have left the portfolio. The Group operates 116 franchise dealerships representing 22 different brand partners in 29 different counties across England. Our strategy is for continuing growth in our retail business organically and through acquisitions.

PETER JOHNSON

Non-Executive Chairman

Peter has over 40 years’ experience in the automotive sector, spending 30 years in senior roles in retail and distribution with the Rover group, Inchcape and Marshall. After previously leading the Marshall retail business between 1990 and 1995, he joined Inchcape, heading up its retail operation. He was then appointed to run Inchcape Motors International and in 1999 was made the Chief Executive of Inchcape plc. During the period between 1999 and 2005, working alongside Alan Ferguson, Daksh Gupta and Mark Raban, Peter oversaw the group’s growth in market capitalisation from around £250 million to over £1.5 billion Peter has served on the Bunzl Public Limited Company board from 2006 to 2015 as its senior independent director and chairman of its remuneration committee. He also chaired Rank Plc. from 2007 to 2012 and served on the Wates Group Limited board from 2003 to 2013. Peter was appointed chairman of the Retail Motor Industry Federation during 2015 and remains in that position.

DAKSH GUPTA

Chief Executive Officer

Daksh has over 25 years’ experience in the automotive retail sector and joined the Company in 2008 as its Chief Executive Officer. Daksh was previously Group Managing Director for Ridgeway Group and the Chief Operating Officer of Accident Exchange Group PLC in 2007. He was also Franchise Director for Inchcape for seven years where he was responsible for the Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes-Benz brands. In July 2015 Daksh was named as CEO of The Year by Motor Trader magazine and the same industry renowned publishers also named him in the top 5 most influential people in the UK automotive industry. He is a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry (FIMI) and Vice President of BEN, the charity for those who work or have worked in the automotive and related industries. His dedication to BEN was recognised in July 2011 when he was presented an outstanding achievement award for services to the charity and also for turning around the performance of Marshall Motor Group. In June 2017 Daksh was invited to become a companion of the chartered management institute (CCMI) Daksh is also a Freeman of the City of London.

ALAN FERGUSON

Senior Independent Director and Chair of Audit Committee

Alan is a Non-Executive Director of Johnson Matthey PLC, Croda International Plc. and The Weir Group PLC. He chairs the audit committees of each of these companies and is the senior independent director of Johnson Matthey. Alan was Chief Financial Officer and a director of Lonmin Plc. until December 2010. Prior to this, he was Group Finance Director of the BOC Group Plc. until it was acquired by the Linde Group in 2006. Before then, Alan spent 22 years in a variety of roles at Inchcape Plc., including six years as its Group Finance Director from 1999. Alan is a chartered accountant and sits on the Business Policy Panel of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

SARAH DICKINS

Non-Executive Director, Chair of Remuneration Committee

Sarah has over 30 years’ HR experience across a broad range of sectors including retail, utilities, financial services and leisure. She spent 16 years at Asda Walmart, five of those years as an operating board member responsible for people operations and customer service for 150,000 in the group. Sarah joined Bourne Leisure as Group People Director in November 2015.

FRANCESCA ECSERY

Non-Executive Director

Francesca has over 20 years’ directorship experience in both blue chip companies and start-ups in the digital, retail, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and leisure industries. She is a Harvard MBA, fluent in five languages and has special expertise in multi-platform consumer marketing, branding and commercial strategies. Francesca is also non-executive director of FSTE listed Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust Plc., AIM listed Share Plc. and Good Energy Group Plc. as well as privately owned Vista Communications. Her previous executive experience includes McKinsey, PespiCo, ThornEMI, Thomas Cook, STA Travel and many other consumer brands.

KATHY JENKINS

Non-Executive Director

Kathy joined Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings) Limited in April 2017 as Group HR Director. Before joining Marshall, Kathy spent 14 years at Thales Plc where she held a number of senior executive positions. She has also worked with Marconi Plc. Kathy was appointed to the Board on 23 May 2018 as a nominated director of Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings) Limited.

CHRISTOPHER WALKINSHAW

Non-Executive Director

Christopher joined Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings) Limited in 1983 and has been a director since 1999. He has worked in all of the principal Marshall businesses, including Marshall Aerospace, Marshall Land Systems and, from 1994 to 2011, Marshall Motor Holdings. Christopher joined the senior team in Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings) Ltd in 2011 and has responsibility for external relations and communications. Christopher is Chairman of The Air League Trust, a member of the Air Cadet Council and of the National Employer’s Advisory Board for the MOD. He is a Trustee of the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, a Member of Anglian Learning and a director of the Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce. Christopher was appointed to the Board on 12 July 2016 as a nominated director of Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings) Limited.
