5. California is to ban the sale of new petrol-only vehicles by 2035, marking a historic step in the state's attempts to tackle climate change.
The new rules are aimed to force car makers to accelerate the introduction to the market of cleaner vehicles.
4. Shell has been fined more than £500,000 for overcharging thousands of customers on pre-payment meters since the energy price cap was introduced in 2019.
The oil giant's home energy supplier failed to implement rate changes to meters due to "operational errors".
3. The UK's last fertiliser plant will halt production raising concerns it could lead to a shortage of carbon dioxide (CO2) for the food and drink industry.
CF Fertilisers said soaring energy costs made production "uneconomical" at its ammonia plant near Middlesbrough.
2. Some 115,000 Royal Mail postal workers are striking today as the Communication Workers Union (CWU), which represents the strikers, reject a pay rise offer "worth up to 5.5%" after three months of talks.
