P Nandalal Weerasinghe will take up the position of the bank's governor on Thursday after the bank's previous head offered his resignation on Monday, amid mass protests over rising living costs and power cuts.

4. The Treasury has announced that it will regulate some cryptocurrencies as part of a wider plan to make the UK a hub for digital payment companies.
