5. Prices in the G20 group of major economies will grow faster than pre-pandemic for at least two years.

Higher commodity prices and shipping costs are pushing up inflation, the OECD said & the UK is expected to have inflation running at about 3% at the end of 2022, the highest rate of the advanced economies.

4. The cost of protecting customers from failing energy providers could lead to higher bills, the boss of the energy regulator Ofgem has said.

It comes as energy firm Green said it was on the brink of collapse due to soaring wholesale gas prices.

3. Pret A Manger is aiming to hire 3,000 staff by the end of 2022 after cutting the same number of jobs last year.

The coffee and sandwich chain said it hopes to double in size within five years as it recovers from the pandemic opening 200 shops in the UK over the next two years, and expand into five markets overseas by the end of 2023.

2. The government is to meet the operating costs of a US-owned fertiliser plant so it can restart production of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the UK after warnings of food shortages.

The deal will allow CF Industries, which supplies most of the CO2 used in food production, to restart its factory in Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees.

1. Joe Biden has played down the chances of brokering a post-Brexit free trade deal with the UK, as he held talks with Boris Johnson at the White House.

It's understodd that UK ministers are now considering joining an existing North American trade arrangement between the US, Canada and Mexico - known as the USMCA.
