The Winx-1 well, operated by 88 Energy (88E) in the North Slope of Alaska, began drilling, on schedule, on Friday, February 15.
Drilling yesterday reached over 880 ft with plans for the hole to be deepened to approximately 2,500 ft before setting surface casing. Should the drilling continue successfully, testing of the Winx-1 is scheduled to take around 50 days.
Winx-1 is located on the North Slope of Alaska, with 3D seismic indicating a gross mean unrisked prospective resource of 400 million barrels. Any hydrocarbons discovery will see 36% net go to 88 Energy and 31.5% net to partner Red Emperor (RMP).
As the highly prospective project unfolds on schedule, the partners are likely to see enthusiasm continue to build for this re-emerging Alaskan opportunity.
