London-listed AdEPT Technology Group (AIM:ADT) said it is working to deliver solutions that impact around 2.1 million patients in the health sector during the coronavirus pandemic.
The telecoms provider highlighted the efforts of its public sector business that accounts for around 45% of its turnover which is helping thousands of staff, hundreds of GP practices and many care homes nationwide during the crisis.
AdEPT said its presence in the sector has accelerated in recent years and that its provisional data networks support over 30 NHS trusts and many large private hospitals such as Great Ormond Street.
The group said it has seen ‘a massive rise’ in requests for help since the start of the pandemic with a 10-fold increase in support calls - many from primary care facilities and surgeries - while in a three week period it fielded over 1,500 support requests from NHS sites.
It said it is working to ease the challenges of the online shift to remote and virtual consultations for doctor’s surgeries, many with no, or very little, remote working requirement.
Shares in AdEPT Technology Group were trading 3.88% higher at 241p this afternoon.
‘To solve this problem AdEPT combined the strong call routing capabilities of the telephone system held on-site at the surgery and the flexibility of the AdEPT Nebula Cloud Hosted voice platform,’ the group said.
‘The solution enabled administration and reception staff to work from home, fielding high volumes of calls due to the increased demands on primary care,’ the statement added.
The group said the solution has now been provided to 150 surgeries with ‘many more’ being deployed daily.
The company has also been working in partnership with Convergence Group to complete a number of network upgrades free of charge for Kent NHS locations.
In addition, the two parties are also working to fast track the deployment of new high-speed links to carry over 20GB of data into the local hospitals of Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone.
In the social care sector - one of the hardest hit areas in the pandemic – the firm is supporting more than 20 care home providers.
The group has also delivered a new secure firewall and remote working service to support a business continuity plan at the Rusthall Lodge Care Home in Tunbridge Wells.
