Cordel Group (CRDL, an AI platform for transport corridor analytics, said it has been selected to provide rail inspection insights for Tren Maya, a 1,554km intercity railway project in Mexico. The contract, which was initially announced in October 2023, transitions to Cordel having a direct relationship with ETD Solutions who are contracted by the operators of Tren Maya.

Cordel will leverage its advanced LiDAR scanning, AI-powered analytics, and cloud-based visualisation tools to provide regular automated inspections to Tren Maya's network. The single source of inspection data will help ensure the network operates safely and sustainably.

Tim Francis, VP of US/LATAM at Cordel, commented:

"We are thrilled to partner on this visionary infrastructure initiative. Our AI powered analytics will help to optimise inspection decision making, minimising environmental impact while maximising public safety across the rail network."

Cordel announces a significant contract expansion in Mexico as it is selected to provide AI-enhanced rail inspection services for Tren Maya. The contract significantly enhances revenue visibility across FY24 and FY25.

Cordel's high-tech rail assessment will enable better vegetation detection, ballast monitoring, clearance assessments, and track spacing analysis. The data will help ETD perform targeted maintenance and vegetation management while reducing ecological disruption during construction and operations.

Overall, the new partnership will help ETD achieve an environmentally responsible, safe rail system. The contract will be a valuable proof of concept that should open Cordel to further opportunities in Latin America.

Today's announcement comes days after Cordel announced its first contract in the Middle East valued at £370k.
