Directa Plus (DCTA) a leading graphene nanoplatelets producer, has partnered with Candiani Denim, an Italian textile producer focused on innovation and sustainability, to launch GRAPHITO, an eco-denim textile.

This eco-friendly denim textile combines Directa Plus' patented technology, providing antimicrobial and thermal properties, with Candiani Denim's bio-based polymer, which replaces liquid plastic in textile production.

GRAPHITO offers unique benefits by reducing water usage, energy consumption, and carbon emissions by up to 75% throughout the garment's wash lifecycle. Additionally, its antibacterial and antiviral properties enable up to 10 wears per lifecycle, while the thermoregulating properties make it suitable for all seasons.

The launch of GRAPHITO denim marks a significant milestone for Directa Plus offering consumers a premier denim choice with a reduced environmental footprint.

Currently, the fashion industry emits about the same quantity of greenhouse gases per year as the entire economies of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom combined.  To align with the 1.5 degree pathway for mitigating climate change as outlined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and ratified in the 2015 Paris agreement, emissions must be reduced by approximately half by 2030. With this target in mind, Directa Plus’ new textile product aligns well with the fashion sustainability goals outlined.

This partnership is a wise move from Direta, given Candiani’s relationship with global brands teamed with its production capacity, For example, Directa Plus sold 74,000 metres of graphene enhanced textiles in 2022, with Candiani’s production capacity being around four hundred times greater.
