Developer and publisher of video games, Frontier Developments (FDEV) , announced on Wednesday the successful release of Planet Zoo on PC.

The game, which was released on Tuesday, 5 November 2019, achieved the global number one bestseller spot on Steam both prior to, and after, its release at 12 noon GMT.

Planet Zoo allows players to experience a campaign across the world where they can nurture animals “as they construct and manage a truly modern zoo where animal welfare and conservation comes first.”

"As our fourth major self-published game release, we're thrilled with the initial response to Planet Zoo. I'd like to thank our team for their tireless commitment and expertise in creating the ultimate zoo simulation game,” commented Chief Executive, David Braben.

The company also confirmed further progress with its recently announced Frontier Publishing initiative which has already signed two partnerships, including an agreement announced with Haemimont Games in June 2019.

At present, the company is engaged in ongoing discussions with multiple carefully-selected potential development partners with games at various stages of development.

The Board maintains expectations that the publishing arm will become a material contributor to the group in years to come as more partnerships are agreed, the company revealed.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr Braben added, “We're passionate about working with the best independent developers in the business, and the signing of our second partnership agreement is a great milestone for us."

Additionally, Frontier confirmed that it will be hosting a Capital Markets Day for institutional investors and analysts at its studio in Cambridge on 12 November 2019.
