Gfinity (GFIN) announced on Tuesday that it was appointed as the operator for the ePremier League USA.

The AIM-listed esports business said it would be operating the online qualifier and online playoffs for the free-to-play tournament run by NBC Sports and the Premier League.

The finals are to be played at the next Premier League Mornings Live fan festival in Philadelphia on 4-5 April 2020.

"We are delighted to be delivering the online qualifying rounds and playoffs for the first ePremier League USA” said Graham Wallace, CEO of Gfinity. “This tournament builds on the success of the hugely popular ePremier League in the UK and we are pleased to be part of this inaugural event.”

He added: “As the esports market continues to grow, we continue to focus on working with our clients to deliver unique and exciting events for gamers in countries all over the world."

Shares in Gfinity were 5% higher at 1.575p during Tuesday morning trading

The ePremier League USA will take place over two weeks from the 2nd to the 15th of March 2020.

Xbox One and PlayStation players will compete for a place in the finals to be flown to Philadelphia to compete.

The fan festival in Philadelphia will take place over two days at Dilworth Park, outside the Philadelphia City Hall with nine fixtures across five match windows.

The festival is the third and final Premier League Mornings Live supporter event that NBC Sports and the Premier League will present during the season, Gfinity said.

The previous events took place in Austin, Texas in October and Miami, Florida in December.
