Intelligent Ultrasound (IUG) , an ultrasound AI software and simulation company, has introduced ScanNav FetalCheck—a new program for precise gestational age estimation in prenatal care. It enables accurate assessment with minimal training, catering to both skilled and non-skilled users.
Accurate gestational age is crucial in managing pregnancies, but it's challenging in low-income regions due to limited access to trained sonographers. ScanNav FetalCheck bridges this gap, offering accurate assessment without expensive equipment.
Additionally, an African university has acquired four ScanNav FetalCheck systems to evaluate factors affecting stillbirth probability in an ongoing trial.
ScanNav FetalCheck is currently not licenced for clinical use.
Nicholas Sleep, COO at Intelligent Ultrasound said: "The use of ScanNav FetalCheck in this first field study is a testament to the ease of use of our new AI software. Our mission is to make ultrasound easier to learn and simpler to use. This is the next step on our journey to achieving this and putting ultrasound into the hands of front-line health practitioners."

ScanNav FetalCheck will target the unmet medical need of identifying the gestational age of a fetus without expensive ultrasound equipment and trained staff, particularly crucial in low-income countries.
The software that underpins this - ScanNav - has been increasingly gaining momentum in 2023, with IUG recently announcing that the software has now been incorporated as a standard feature in GE Healthcare's latest generation of Voluson Expert ultrasound machines.
As Intelligent Ultrasound and GE Healthcare's relationship continues to develop with new software products, there is significant potential upside going forward. The partnership is one of IUG's key growth drivers as sales soared 46.9% in FY21 and 33% in FY22. Cavendish predicts 24% growth this year and 41.4% next year, with IUG reaching profitability by end of FY24.
Today's update demonstrates Intelligent Ultrasound’s continued success in the medical imaging industry, providing solutions that help to alleviate strain on the healthcare system through faster throughput, more accurate diagnosis, and reduced operator burnout.
