ITM Power (ITM) , the energy storage and clean fuel company, and Iwatani Corporation of America announced on Tuesday that they had signed an agreement to deploy multi MW electrolyser based hydrogen energy systems in North America.
ITM Power and ICA’s shared aim is to reduce pollutants and improve air quality by offering renewable hydrogen to the transportation, energy storage and renewable energy sectors.
The collaboration will enable the companies to share opportunities, particularly in areas of interest such as in the California hydrogen refuelling station market.
In commercial cases, the two parties will work together on an exclusive basis to deploy ITM Power’s PEM electrolysers and Iwatani's gas handling and deployment solutions.CEO of Iwatani Americas, Joe Cappello, said the collaboration would meet the needs of customers who “have committed to transitioning to low-carbon-intensity derived hydrogen as an energy source.”
“Transport refuelling is just the tip of the iceberg for demand for hydrogen from renewable sources,” said Dr Graham Cooley, CEO of ITM Power, “and this partnership will be well positioned to participate in this exciting and rapidly growing industry."
