Global supplier of detection technology, Kromek Group (KMK) , announced on Tuesday that it had been awarded two extension contracts, worth approximately £1.6m, directly relating to its D3S family of products and technologies designed to counter nuclear terrorism.

The first extension contract, valued at around £0.6 million, was granted by the US Government’s Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office, a component within the US Department of Homeland Security.

This contract will add further technical innovation capability to the D3S family of products, with its enhancements aimed to provide greater operational capabilities, improving user experience with the addition of a specialist reporting function to generate further information for homeland security organisations.

Additionally, the group has also been awarded a £1.0 million contract extension to provide integration of D3S-related technologies by a European government-related firm whose focus lies with protection against potential nuclear threats.

The European customer will therefore utilise the group’s solutions for wide-area threat monitoring. As a result of the contract extension, the total awarded by the European customer to the AIM-listed group during this financial year now comes to a £2.1 million total.

With sales extending across 18 countries, CEO, Arnab Basu says that “the D3S family of products is “gaining increasing momentum globally”, viewing the increase as a direct result of government’s wider efforts to adopt innovative solutions to counter the threat of nuclear terrorism.

Mr Basu further added, “We are also pleased to be receiving further orders from existing customers, which reflects the value that they gain from our solutions.

With some of our multi-year trials approaching a successful conclusion, we look forward to additional product and system-level sales of this leading-edge solution in the future."
