Mobile Streams (MOS) the mobile content and gaming distributor, announced it is launching its mobile games services in Indonesia.
Indonesia is the largest market for mobile games in Southeast Asia in terms of revenue, and the sixth largest country in terms of smartphone users, despite only 27% of the country using smartphones.
Shares in the company were up 10% following the news
Mobile Streams has been dealing with a local consultant to help streamline the adoption of its mobilegaming.com services with local telecom operators.
However, it does plan to pursue direct agreements with the telecom operators in the future.
The company noted that although India’s mobile gaming market is the fastest growing in terms of average spend per user, Indonesia is only just behind.
Simon Buckingham, CEO of Mobile Streams said: "Since the beginning of the financial year, the company has considered a number of markets to complement Latin America and India.”
He added: “We strongly believe that Indonesia, a sizable market with a population of over 250 million, provides the best opportunity to achieve positive results in both the short and long term."
