Plant Health Care the novel patented biological product provider to global agriculture markets, released an update regarding its PREtec (Plant Response Elicitor Technology) business in corn and soy crops.
A novel, environmentally minded approach to protecting crops based on peptides derived from natural proteins, PREtec has significant potential in the more than 375 million acres of corn and soy planted in North America, Brazil, and Argentina.
Three more global agriculture and seed companies have signed agreements to evaluate PREtec product candidates on multiple crops ranging across these areas. With farmers now training a key eye on technologies that can both reduce crop yield losses brought on by droughts as well as leave fewer environmental stresses, PREtec is a highly attractive option.
By activating the innate growth and defence mechanisms of plants, PREtec peptides have produced corn plants whose seeds increased yield by an average of almost 17% over three consecutive growing seasons compared to untreated plants.
The company is also continuing field trials with their Innatud 3G peptide PHC279 against Asian Soybean Rust in Brazil.
Having honed their product to address the environmental and yield needs of farmers, Plant Health Care’s PREtec is a technology to closely monitor as the company continues to evaluate it on multiple crops around the world during the 2019 growing season.
