Quantum Data Energy (QDE) said construction of its 5 MW Bordesley flexible generation project is substantially complete, with the asset achieving its Substantial Completion Milestone (CMP) and entering final commissioning ahead of expected commercial operations in Q4 2026.
The company said Bordesley achieved the milestone on 30 September 2026, securing its T-4 Capacity Market agreement covering delivery years through to 2039/2040. The project remains within budget and on schedule.
The high-voltage grid connection was energised on 8 September, while G99 grid compliance testing was completed and approved by National Grid Electricity Distribution on 29 September. This confirmed the asset's technical eligibility to export electricity to the grid.
Both Caterpillar G3520K gensets have been installed, with the first synchronised to the grid and commissioning underway. Electrical and gas installations are complete, while civil works are substantially finished.
The remaining work includes completion of construction, commissioning and performance testing of both gensets, followed by final snagging and handover. These activities are expected to be completed during October, with commercial operations scheduled to begin during Q4.
Once operational, Bordesley will become Quantum Data Energy's third flexible generation asset alongside Pyebridge and Hindlip, supporting its strategy to build a portfolio of more than 300 MW of flexible generation capacity.
Quantum Data Energy’s Chief Executive Officer Pieter Krügel said: “We are delighted that Bordesley has achieved its Substantial Completion Milestone under its Capacity Market agreement, securing the project’s long-term Capacity Market income. With the site energised, G99 grid compliance achieved and the first genset synchronised to the grid, the project has entered its final commissioning phase and remains within budget. We would like to thank everyone involved, especially the teams on site, Power Balancing Services as our partner, and NGED. Upon commencement of commercial operations, Bordesley will become our third operational flexible generation asset, alongside Pyebridge and Hindlip. The project represents a further step in implementing our strategy to build a portfolio of 300+ MW of flexible generation assets.”
Separately, Quantum Data Energy has renewed the project finance facility held by its wholly owned Pyebridge subsidiary with RiverFort Global Opportunities PCC. The outstanding balance following the renewal is £2.29 million, with the maturity extended to 1 October 2027.
The company said Pyebridge's cash generation is expected to exceed the facility's minimum payment commitments, while it intends to refinance the facility on more favourable terms in due course. RiverFort has also received 26.14 million warrants exercisable at 2.5p per share for three years.
Quantum Data Energy will also issue 4.22 million new shares at 2.25p each, worth £95,000, as part settlement of a legacy creditor balance owed by subsidiary Sloane Developments.

Bordesley reaching substantial completion, grid energisation and G99 compliance leaves the project close to commercial operations. Bringing a third flexible generation asset online would further expand Quantum Data Energy's operating portfolio while providing additional Capacity Market-backed revenues.
