Tekcapital plc (TEK) has appointed Dr. Mireya McKee as a new Business Development Manager.
Mireya has over 17 years of research, technology transfer and innovation management experience. After completing a Ph.D. In biochemistry from the University of Texas-Austin as a conacyt fellow, she carried out postdoctoral research in nanotechnology at Oxford University, where she received an EPSRC developing future leaders-women in science grant.
She transitioned into business, completing a certification program on the commercialization of scientific research at oxford’s saïd business school. Dr McKee also served as a senior consultant in technology transfer for oxford university innovation.
She founded an innovation management consultancy that provided training and support to universities and start-up companies around the globe.
As part of this effort, she has become knowledgeable about the innovation ecosystems of latin American countries where she has assisted a number of government agencies in designing and implementing innovation policies and programs.
This follows a string of strong hires by the company, on Friday it announced the appointment of USAF Lt Col (RET) Juan A Hurtado as its technology and innovation advisor.
Juan has an extensive track record in leading technology and driving innovation, previously having served as the science and technology advisor and deputy director, technology, innovation and solutions for the U.S. Southern Command, Department of Defence, and with the U.S. Air force where he managed research and discoveries for a number of significant technology centres.

His experience with winning and managing complex technology programs should enhance Tekcapital's corporate and governmental outreach efforts. "
Earlier in the week, the company also appointed Harald Braun as Chairman to its wholly-owned portfolio company Guident Ltd.
Mr. Braun has managed leading public listed companies in the telecommunications industry as president and CEO, including Siemens Networks USA and Aviat Networks, with proven capabilities transforming and building businesses in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Africa.
He has been a prominent standards influencer and spokesman for the telecommunications industry, serving numerous executive boards including the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, BigBand Networks, Tarana Wireless Inc., and the Advisory Board of Broadsoft (acquired by CISCO).
