Tekcapital (TEK) , an intellectual property investment group, announced this week that its portfolio company Lucyd has filed thirteen Design Patents for its new line of Lucyd Loud Eyewear.
The new frames will feature Bluetooth services, proper corrective lenses and all day battery life. According to the company, these new glasses are expected to become available worldwide late in Q2 of 2019.
Launched in 2018, Lucyd aimed to integrate prescription eyewear with advanced technology, along with an “improved online experience, and competitive pricing.”
The company grained traction a few months later when it brought it star power in the form of brand ambassador American football star, Richard Sherman.
Crucial to the company, also, has been the growth of online sales in the eyewear and prescription eyeglass market. According to Statista, the current online market is worth $3.8bn, with eight million pairs of prescription glasses being sold online.
Tune in to hear more from Tekcapital's Chairman Cliff Gross about how the company works to establish a vibrant invention discovery network, comprised of elite universities and scientists.
