UK-based 'out-of-hospital' healthcare service provider, Totally plc (TLY) announced on Thursday the launch of Totally Healthcare Limited, a specialist firm targeting the market for the insourcing of healthcare services across the UK and Ireland.
Specifically, as an ‘insourcing’ business, Totally Healthcare’s service will aim at making the most efficient use of hospital infrastructure, addressing long patient waiting lists -- a key issue surrounding the UK healthcare industry.
Wendy Lawrence, CEO of Totally, explained: “With nearly 4.5m NHS patients currently on waiting lists in England alone and continuing increasing demand for NHS services, waiting times and waiting lists are not likely to decline without considerable effort. We see a significant opportunity to benefit patients and hospitals alike, across the UK and Ireland.”
Totally Healthcare aims to become the UK and Ireland's insourcing market leader in what is considered a somewhat fragmented and developing segment of the market, the firm explained.
“By building upon the existing relationships of the Group and its subsidiaries we are confident we can make a significant impact in the fragmented insourcing market, with the ultimate aim of becoming the market leader," Mr Lawrence added.
The company, which has been set up as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Totally plc, aims to achieve this through its high quality insourcing solutions within hospitals as well as quality care to patients.
The group recently reported confident results following a pilot scheme in Ireland where consultants, with supporting nursing teams, were provided from the UK.
As a result of the positive feedback, the group has secured a new contract in Ulster to deliver endoscopy procedures, with Mr Lawrence describing the win as “a valuable starting block from which the business can grow.”
Totally Healthcare will be led by Marie Lee, Managing Director, along with experienced clinicians including Dr Graham Turner, Medical Advisor, and Kaye Drew, Head of Nursing.
