4. Home Secretary Priti Patel has approved the extradition of a British tech tycoon to the US to face criminal fraud charges.

The decision comes after Mike Lynch, the founder of Autonomy, lost a multibillion-dollar fraud action in London on Friday, his firm was sold to US giant Hewlett Packard for $11bn (£8bn) in 2011.

1. A planned increase in National Insurance contributions will go ahead in April, Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak has said, despite calls to scrap the rise due to the strain on household budgets.

With surging inflation, the government has faced growing pressure, including from some of its own Conservative lawmakers, to delay or cancel the new health and social care levy that will see the rate of National Insurance rise by 1.25 percentage points.
