3. Bank of England policymaker Silvana Tenreyro said that she was thinking "more in the medium term" about the question of when they should start to raise interest rates, however financial markets are now betting heavily on a rate hike on Decemeber 16 after its next meeting.

The BoE Monetary Policy Committee voted to keep borrowing costs on hold earlier this month, a decision that shocked many investors who had been expecting an increase.

1. The UK government has set aside nearly £1.7bn to allow energy firm Bulb to continue supplying energy to customers.

The firm was put into special administration on Wednesday and will be run by administrator Teneo until a buyer can be found or until its customers have moved.
