Alba Mineral Resources (ALBA ) has received all remaining assay results on bulk sample concentrates produced at its pilot processing plant at the Clogau-St David's Gold Mine.

The mineral exploration firm said the results received in this final batch of results have significantly exceeded results from the previous results announced back in May 2021.

Addressing shareholders this morning, Alba's Executive Chairman, George Frangeskides commented, “These represent by far the best results obtained from the assaying of the preliminary bulk sample concentrates collected from the Clogau-St David's Gold Mine.”

These results returned grades up to 461 g/t, with concentrates produced from the Grandfathers Stope ranging from 86.8 g/t Au to 461 g/t Au with an average of 187 g/t Au.

The Company highlighted that these results ‘significantly exceed’ the assay results of bulk sample concentrates announced in May which had returned grades of 20.4 to 165.5 g/t Au.

The first underground bulk sample, which was collected from the mine in October 2020 and was successfully completed in May, returned assayed concentrates of ‘very notable grades’.

In particular, Alba said these results are ‘a significant advance’ on the initial processing of a small bulk sample at a third-party processing facility, which was announced on 8 January 2021, and which confirmed the production of a 20.7 grams per tonne gold concentrate.

Alba explained at the time that further bulk samples which were due to be taken at Clogau would be from new, unworked veins, which have been identified through its own drilling and where the prospects for higher-grade mineralisation were expected to be greater.

Alba’s primary goal of the initial testing has been to confirm that the pilot processing plant built by Alba performs well in terms of its ability to extract and concentrate coarse gold.

It said results confirm this, and the pilot plant has performed ‘with a high degree of efficiency and has demonstrated that it can extract and concentrate the coarse gold efficiently which is validated by the fact that the tailings values returned negligible gold grades.’

Alba said planning is progressing for the identification of new, unworked veins for bulk sampling later in 2021. Frangeskides added, “The pilot plant continues to operate very well, with negligible values returned from the tailings. We plan to continue with the bulk sampling later this year once the current phase of drilling has been completed.”

At the end of June, Alba told investors that results from initial sampling of the waste rock dump at the Clogau-St David's Gold Mine had returned elevated gold grades of up to 9.89 g/t.

The company highlighted that the results were shown to be consistent with the gold being coarse in nature and easily freed from its host rock which the company said supports its decision to install a simple gravity processing plant to capture the majority of the gold.

In recent weeks, the Company received the first set of assay results back on bulk sample concentrates produced at its pilot processing plant at the Clogau-St David's Gold Mine with the first set of assayed concentrates having returned ‘very notable grades’.

Alba's Executive Chairman, George Frangeskides said the initial results were demonstrative of how well the pilot plant is working now in producing gold concentrates with high recoveries.

In May, the company also announced to investors in its final results for the year ended 30 November 2020 that it intends to create a new Greenland-focused, spin-out company with the aim of unlocking ‘real and sustained value’ for shareholders across the group’s asset portfolio.

Reasons to  ALBA

Alba Mineral Resources is a well-diversified exploration and development company which owns and operates mining projects in Greenland, Wales and Ireland. Its strategy is to identify and secure undervalued assets with a diversified commodity mix where there is potential for discovering further unexploited resources alongside the existing mine site.

Despite losing field time to the COVID-19 pandemic, Alba said it is in a position to execute one of the most significant underground work programmes seen for several decades at its Clogau gold mine in Wales, just as the commodity is reaching all-time highs in value.
