Growth Company Investor (GCI), the leading publication for small cap investors, is being relaunched by Vox Markets as an online only service, with former GCI editor David Thornton and former Investors Chronicle editor John Hughman among the leading analysts who will be writing for the title.
First published in 1996, GCI provides independent research on small and mid-cap UK companies, addressing their chronic lack of coverage across the mainstream and specialist media. The aim is to identify stocks which have a good or improving growth outlook and can be bought at a reasonable price.
Smaller companies can be riskier than large caps, which needs to be borne in mind when making an investment; but they are under-researched and capable of delivering substantial outperformance. We tend to focus on established companies rather than more speculative early-stage situations.
When assessing a stock’s attractions as a potential investment we take a medium-term view and are prepared to hold a stock for 18 months or longer to give the thesis time to unfold. Short term moves in share prices can be random and small caps often ‘go to sleep’ for long periods between announcements - so it is important to exercise patience when investing.
The views expressed in GCI are for information only. They should not be regarded as recommendations, since the suitability of an investment is dependent on your individual circumstances.
