Research on Gelion PLC (GELN:LON) from Longspur Clean Energy
Gelion has formed an important strategic collaboration through a Co-operative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) formerly NREL. This aims to validate Gelion’s cathode material for manufacturing and create a pilot scale cathode active material plant using US domestic material. Because Gelion’s cathode material can allow for the manufacturing of high performance lithium ion batteries in the West more cheaply than in China and without reliance on offshore supply chains, we see this agreement as placing Gelion at the centre of an independent battery manufacturing strategy for the US. It especially opens the way to government and defence procurement contracts.
