MedPal AI (MPAL ) has opened a state-of-the-art medicines fulfilment centre at Ecotech Business Park, Swaffham, creating a 24/7 automated hub integrated with the company’s AI triage and MedPal app. The launch follows the recent acquisition of key assets from Universal Pharmacy, including a Distance Selling Pharmacy (DSP) licence, and enables capacity for over 100,000 prescriptions per month.

MedPal has tripled the original warehouse footprint by leasing two adjacent units and installing advanced robotic dispensing systems, including an Omnicell VBM and a BD Rowa VMAX. Meanwhile, MedPal’s AI-driven front end will route users to Independent Prescribers (IPs) or General Practitioners (GPs) for clinical oversight before fulfilment.

The General Pharmaceutical Council ceased issuing new DSP licences in June 2025, which, in addition to automation, underpins MedPal’s national scale ambitions. As a result, the Centre supports both private and NHS prescriptions, with barcoded workflows, machine vision checks and pharmacist oversight designed to enhance accuracy, safety and cost efficiency.

Access will be promoted nationally and via the MedPal app. Users can complete an AI-supported consultation at any time, obtain a clinician-signed prescription where appropriate, and receive same-day delivery in key metropolitan areas or next-day delivery nationwide. There will be no charge for the consultation or prescription, only for the medication. Initial focus areas include weight loss treatments and chronic disease management, subject to prescription and clinical suitability.

“This distribution centre represents a milestone in our mission to democratise healthcare,” said MedPal AI’s CEO Jason Drummond.

“By combining our Medpal AI triage with robotic innovation, we are creating a 24/7 ecosystem that makes primary care accessible and affordable, while always prioritising patient safety through human expertise and oversight.”
