Mobile Streams (MOS) is to launch a virtual cricket game - a special customised version of the 11 Wickets game - in India on the country's largest phone network, Jio.
The mobile content and data intelligence company said the new game will be available across the Jio network within the next week to 400 million subscribers, including over 150 million smartphone users who will be able to access the game directly from the Jio Game store.
11 Wickets, which is already a highly popular fantasy cricket game featuring Indian actor Sanjay Dutt in its promotion, is a virtual online game of cricket, where the user playing the game gets the opportunity to build a team of 11 players completely of their own choice.
Users of the game can create their own team and select a suitable captain and vice-captain for their fantasy league by selecting players from the line-ups provided in the real match.
According to a Ficci-EY report, the Indian fantasy sports industry is expected to reach $2.5 billion in 2022. Data has also shown that the industry is already growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32% and is expected to be worth $3.7 billion by 2024.
According to a study by the Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports in collaboration with KPMG, the user base of the Indian fantasy sports industry stood at around 90 million back in 2019.
The company has been working closely with the game's publisher Ability Games and Jio for almost 7 months to create a customised version of the game with exclusive gameplay and features specifically for handsets across the Jio network and through its Game store.
Mobile Streams has agreed a revenue share based on CPI (cost per impression) revenue that will be generated by Jio delivering advertising with the game.
Tim Scoffham, Chief Commercial Officer Mobile Streams, told investors: "We are delighted to announce the launch of 11 wickets on the Jio network. After 7 months of collaboration between us, the network and the publisher we are extremely pleased to deliver a fantastic game and significant revenue generating opportunity into India's largest network." He added that today’s news is “just the next step” for the Company as it continues its expansion.
Shares in Mobile Streams were trading 2.46% higher at 0.29p during afternoon trading.
