musicMagpie (MMAG) , a UK-based online retailer specialising in refurbished electronics, is expanding its SMARTDrop Kiosk network to include Manchester Arndale (Manchester), Cribbs Causeway (Bristol) and Willow Brook (Bristol), three high profile and high footfall sites.
Combined, the sites attract over 50m visitors per year.
Since their launch in November 2020, SMARTDrop Kiosks now account for 45% of musicMagpie's Consumer Technology sourcing in the UK.
Steve Oliver, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of musicMagpie, said: "We're thrilled to announce that our SMARTDrop Kiosks will be arriving at three new major locations this week, following the successful rollout in Asda stores across the country. Our SMARTDrop Kiosk in The Trafford Centre has been one of our most successful installations to-date, and with millions of people visiting each of these new sites every year these will serve to increase brand awareness and promote the service making it easier than ever for customers to trade in their phone for cash, while doing something positive for the environment."

Customers have taken well to musicMagpie’s SMARTDrop Kiosks since their launch in November 2020. The retailer completed an initial rollout of 290 SMARTDrop Kiosks into Asda stores across the UK in October 2022, and has since made additional installations in The Trafford Centre (Manchester), alongside the three announced today.
musicMagpie first partnered with ASDA in September 2021, and since then over 25,000 phones have been traded in. The deal was part of a broader sustainability partnership between ASDA and musicMagpie.
musicMagpie has also expanded its presence in the US in 2023, securing a partnership with Walmart in January to list musicMagpie's US brand decluttr’s preowned CDs, DVDs, and video games on Walmart.com.
The company is helping to address the global e-waste problem, particularly prevalent in the UK, by refurbishing 95% of the products received from customers. It is estimated that in a single month, the world generates approximately 4.5 million metric tonnes of e-waste.
musicMagpie’s success may also be augmented by current cost pressures on UK households, as cash given for unwanted devices collecting dust is perhaps even more appealing given the cost of living squeeze.
