Seeing Machines (SEE) , a technology company using artificial intelligence to power transport safety systems, informed investors today that it has won a new program design bid with automotive group OEM.
The program centers on delivering Seeing Machines’ Driver Monitoring System (DMS) technology. Through the company’s learning vision technology, DMS is able to monitor the driver’s level of attention, identifying if she or he become drowsy or distracted.
Seeing Machines is now working with a Tier 1 partner to deliver the DMS program through its “highly scalable” FOVIO Chip, which analyses details such as head pose and eyelid movements to ensure the driver’s alertness.
Through this partnership, Seeing Machines has estimated mass production will begin in late 2020, with an estimated lifetime revenue of $6 million for the initially planned car models-- although the company sees this win as “strategic with a significant potential for volume/model expansion with increasing demand for driver monitoring systems, globally.”
The new deal now has Seeing Machines running DMS production programs across a range of car models in a total of six OEMs globally, as well as three major US based automotive manufacturers.
GM of Automotive at Seeing Machines, Nick DiFiore commented, “We see this as a further endorsement of our technology leadership and a reflection of the growing effectiveness of the close Tier-1 partnerships, in which we have invested.
"We also continue to see substantial and growing demand for our DMS technology around the world, as regulation accelerates recognition of the key role it plays in improving safety across all transport sectors.”
