Strategic Minerals (SML), a leading mineral company, has reported a significant uptick in sales for February 2024, marking a six-year high for the month.

The company’s subsidiary, Southern Minerals Group LLC which operates the Cobre magnetite stockpile, recorded sales of 4,898 tons of magnetite, on the back of robust demand from fertiliser companies. This sets a positive trajectory for the remainder of the year, with expectations of quarterly sales reaching around 13,000 tonnes post-March 2024. These figures are forecasted to translate into revenues of around US$3.5 million for 2024.

The increase in sales has prompted Strategic Minerals to invest in enhancing its operational capacity. The company has announced the acquisition of a Caterpillar Excavator (Trackhoe 320) to bolster its production capabilities, notably ensuring uninterrupted operations during adverse weather conditions.

John Peters, Managing Director, expressed optimism about the company’s future outlook, citing the strengthened cash flow projections and the resolution of creditor payments from the previous year. He highlighted the strategic decision to secure financing for the equipment purchase, aligning with the company’s anticipated cash flows. Additionally, Peters indicated ongoing discussions with potential clients, indicating sustained growth opportunities for Strategic Minerals.

This news underscores Strategic Minerals’ resilience and proactive approach in capitalising on market demand and investing in infrastructure to support its growth trajectory.
