Winshear Metals could be key to UK critical minerals drive

Richard Williams, MSc (MinEx) of Winshear Metals  joins Vox to give a detailed breakdown of the potential on offer at the company's assets in Scotland and Canada. The Portsoy project, near Aberdeen, is highly prospective for nickel, copper and cobalt, as recent and ongoing drilling is highlighting. The area was first worked in joint venture between Anglo and Rio half a century ago, but access issues prevented any meaningful follow-up, until now. The accuracy of historic work has been verified, and new work is set to prove up two zones initially, with the potential in time, says Williams, for developing a district-scale area. The Canadian gold projects are earlier stage, but a full exploration programme this year should set them up for drilling this year. Great Western all set for US tungsten drilling

Ed Loye, the recently appointed chief executive of Great Western Mining , has been out in Nevada making preparations for the company's upcoming drilling campaign at its Defender-Pine Crow tungsten project. Around 2,000 metres of RC drilling is planned over the summer, and the company is well-funded, so there could be significant follow-up work going into the autumn. Meanwhile, a bulk sample has been sent away for testing, and Ed himself is off to Washington next week to put Great Western's name in front of some influential people.

 

Rome Resources joins survey of wider Bisie area

Rome Resources  is participating in an airborne geophysical survey of the wider Bisie area in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The company has been working up its Kalayi and Mont Agoma projects for some time now, and will seek to put them in a wider geological context with the airborne survey. Chief executive Paul Barrett says that working out where the granite contact is will be of particular interest. Results of the survey should be available around the end of June, about the same time the company's resource update for Kalayi is due.
