Georgina Energy (GEX)  said its technical operations team is onsite at the Mt Winter project in Australia, carrying out inspections ahead of a planned seismic programme and prospect re-entry drilling in 2027.

The team, alongside Aztech and ecological consultants, is inspecting the Mt Winter water well, proposed seismic line locations and potential drill site. Access to and from the site is also under review, while environmental work is being undertaken to support the planned programme.

Georgina plans to accelerate development of Mt Winter, which has 2U/P50 prospective recoverable resources of 234 billion cubic feet of helium, 214 billion cubic feet of hydrogen and 1.7 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. The company is continuing discussions with Harlequin Energy over potential funding for the pre-drill seismic programme, subject to a formal agreement.

The company plans to acquire ~190 line kilometres of new seismic data to better define the prospect's stratigraphy, formation tops and target zones, with the existing seismic dating from 1981. The programme is also expected to help identify direct hydrocarbon indicators and potential accumulations of hydrogen, helium and natural gas.

Seismic acquisition is expected in early 2027, followed by prospect re-entry drilling by mid-2027. Georgina has called for seismic tenders from several suppliers, while the formal drilling tender process is expected to begin in early 2027.

Georgina Energy's Chief Executive Officer Anthony Hamilton said: “Our team is on site for the week, and we look forward to drilling the Mt Winter prospect in 2027, following the successful confirmatory seismic, which coupled with the Hussar prospect re-entry well has game changing, company-making potential.”

The onsite work moves Mt Winter closer to its planned 2027 seismic and drilling programme. Updated seismic data will be important in refining the targets ahead of re-entry, while potential funding support from Harlequin Energy could help advance the next phase of work.
