London-listed Seeing Machines (AIM:SEE)  has launched an optimised FOVIO driver monitoring system to address new European car requirements.

These new requirements concerning driver drowsiness and distraction detection will be enforced from 2022, the statement detailed.

Specifically, the FOVIO variant will be optimised for basic European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) with flexibility to support more advanced DMS requirements.

The company said they believe that the optimised chip solution is now representative of ‘the highest performing, smallest and lowest cost, driver monitoring solution on the market’.

"Driver monitoring plays a key role in next-generation NCAP requirements and safe assisted driving,” said Nick DiFiore, Senior Vice President of Automotive.

“This is a great outcome as we continue to focus on supporting our customers and partners in the automotive industry with a DMS solution that is sensibly priced, scalable, simple to integrate in relatively short timeframes,” he added.

According to DiFiore, the DMS solution “continues to deliver on the Seeing Machines performance promise.”

Separately, Seeing Machines revealed plans to showcase its FOVIO DMS technology at the CES technology show in Las Vegas from the 7th to 10th January 2020.

The company will include within its demonstrations its latest software and algorithm developments regarding its DMS technology solutions.

In addition, the DMS technology will be showcased within demonstrations from a range of top tier and original equipment manufacturers, including Swedish automotive provider, Veoneer.
