SimiGon (SIM) , an AIM-listed company who provide simulation and training solutions, announced on Thursday that it had won a further contract with the United States Air Force to supply VR systems at its Columbus Air Force Base.
The contract win marks the second deal struck with the USAF within the last week, after the company announced last Thursday that it would supply a range of its mixed reality platforms to aid USAF pilot training.
As a result, this morning’s announcement has further legitimised the company’s positioning as a strong provider of VR technologies for training.
SimiGon’s President and Chief Executive, Ami Vizer, commented: "This VR systems supply contract is a natural fit for SimiGon, as we've been active in VR for almost two decades. SimiGon is well positioned to support USAF's innovation efforts in the VR realm.”
Shares were up almost 8% following this morning's news.
The contract, awarded in part of an effort to recreate the Air Force's spirit of innovation, helps demonstrate the value of SimiGon’s technologies to the market, and, as the company explained, reinforces them as a reliable partner to their clients.
Additionally, the pact holds strategic significance for the company in their efforts to expand their presence into an undergraduate pilot training air base in Columbus, Mississippi.
Looking ahead, today’s win has reassured the company that future opportunities lie ahead, with Mr Vizer adding: “We expect this contract to lead to additional VR supplier opportunities in the USAF and in the Government and Commercial training space."
