Harvest Minerals, (HMI)  was issued a full environmental permit for its Arapua project by the Bralizian Environmental Department on Monday.

The AIM listed remineraliser producer said the permit allows mining and processing of up to 400Ktpa of its KPFértil product, and the option to increase it further when required.

Harvest was also granted permission by Brazilian authorities to increase the size of the run-of-mine storage areas and clear other areas to assist production as required.

Shares in Harvest Minerals rallied 10% to 4.75p following the news

The company told investors that it expects to be issued a full mining permit by the Agência Nacional de Mineração in due course. Harvest’s current trial mining licence is valid until Q2 2021.

Brian McMaster, Executive Chairman of Harvest stated, "As a producer of an organic product, we are very aware of environmental considerations. Sustainability is a key consideration for Harvest and we aim to have minimal environmental impact. Our production facilities don't use any water nor produce any waste.”

He continued: “In addition to the environmental considerations, it is important that the permit allows us to produce at a rate above current name plate capacity and also that SUPRAM has consented to the ROM and storage area expansions.”

“As we announced recently, we are increasing production areas in anticipation of next year and beyond and having the environmental consent to move forward is very important."
