Red Rock Resources (RRR ) has reported “extremely encouraging” results from its first batch of results from a recently completed phase 1 RC drilling exploration programme in Kenya.
The London-listed natural resource development firm said it has recently completed a total of 20 holes totalling 2093 metres as part of the company’s phase 1 RC Drilling Programme exploration programme in the mid KKM prospect at the Mikei Gold Project (“MGP”) in Kenya.
MGP, which is 100% beneficially owned by Red Rock, comprises two prospecting licences which cover approximately 245 km2, namely PL/2018/0202 and PL/2018/0203, over the Migori Greenstone Belt, and are located along the northern margin of the Tanzanian Craton.
It explained that sampling and logging was done at 1m intervals by its in-house geological team prior to being sent to SGS limited in Mwanza, Tanzania for accredited laboratory assay.
Today, Red Rock reported the results of its first batch of 950 samples from 9 out of the 20 drill holes while the final batch from the Phase 1 drilling samples is awaiting customs clearance.
Pictured below: The hole KKRC102 (planned name KK018) has intercepted 15m @ 1.15g/t and seems to be continuing, Red Rock Resources told investors in its statement this morning.

Commenting on this morning’s results, Red Rock’s Chairman Andrew Bell highlighted to investors: “The drill programme was designed to test possible extensions of the mineralised zones and to infill some possible gaps where holes might previously have been drilled too far apart to allow an assumption of continuity of mineralisation in the Resource calculation.”
He explained that a more powerful compressor had to be brought in part way through the drilling programme and that the first nine holes for which Red Rock has results were those drilled while waiting for it to arrive. He said “a comprehensive picture” of the results of the programme awaits the results of the final eleven holes, including some deeper holes.
However, he told investors that so far, the first nine holes drilled have been “extremely encouraging” and take the company “some way” towards its objectives for the programme.
He added, “Seven of the drillholes intercepted gold mineralisation, including five at good grades. We look forward to being able to announce the remaining results before long.”
